Allow us to help you on your prison journey. All you have to do is scroll down this page to find links to detailed and trustworthy information about prison life and how to survive prison.

How To Prepare For Prison.

Prison is all the rage in Hollywood. We’ve all seen Oz, the Shawshank Redemption, Orange is the New Black, and ConAir.

Their creators got some of the facts right, but they don’t tell you how to prepare for prison if you are going to prison. Our goal is to help you in your preparing for incarceration journey.

Our Prison Consulting Approach.

After understanding who you are and your unique needs, we then launch into our informational foundation phase.

Here, we combine a strategy of providing you with quality reading materials about Queensland prisons and talking with you about the questions that come up that are specific to you and your needs.

This book is authored by Marius Anton Ackerman Beyond The Ordinary "UNCUT"!, our lead prison consultant.

Having read this book, you will have a much better idea of what is to come.

But equally as important, this book will spur more questions that are unique to your circumstances.

Inmate Search | Inmate Locator.

We will help you with our Inmate Search Tool.

To find the inmate you are looking for we require the persons First Name and Surname.

First Day In Prison.

Chances are, you will remember your first day in prison for the rest of your life.

While the experience can differ between different prisons, new admissions generally go through the same intake process. Below we discuss what happens on your first day in prison.

Schedule an initial consultation to receive individualised prison coaching to help you prepare for a term of incarceration.

You can also read about our prison consulting servicesprison preparation services, and fee structures. And don’t forget to pick up a copy of the "Beyond The Ordinary! "UNCUT" Prison Survival Guide", the leading book on life in Queensland Australia prisons.

Sex Offenders in Prison | Surviving Prison as a Sex Offender.

Surviving prison as a sex offender is tough.

This is especially true for sex offenders in prison with offenses including possessing, distributing, or producing child pornography, or soliciting minors for sexual activity.

While this is often a scary prospect, at Marius Anton Ackerman Prison Preparation Services , we are here to help.

We explain this sensitive issue, helps to illuminate the reality of what happens to sex offenders in prison and discusses available sex offender treatment programs.

A Cautionary Note About Inmate Money.

Prison authorities pay close attention to who sends money to which inmates.

They also attempt to identify persons outside of the prison who deposit money into multiple inmates trust fund accounts. This is a telltale sign of one inmate having someone outside of prison place funds into another inmate’s account.

With this in mind, family members and friends should be cautious about placing funds into multiple inmates trust fund accounts.

If an outside party places funds into different inmates trust fund accounts, both prisoners risk being investigated for potentially engaging in prohibited conduct.

Inmate Trust Funds and Canteen Accounts "Buy Up's".

Inmates can receive funds deposited by outside family, friends, and others.

The prison administration also pays them for institutional work details and other incentives.

Inmate Phone Calls.

Inmate communication is essential for maintaining relationships, reducing recidivism, and improving inmate mental health.

In Queensland facilities they provide inmates access to telephone services, adhering to regulations and security protocols.

In our Publication "Beyond The Ordinary!" "UNCUT" details the entire process of inmate phone calls in Queensland prisons, from setting up phone accounts to understanding inmate phone service restrictions and policies.

How to Talk To Prison Guards aka "Screws".

A fact of prison life is that you must interact with prison guards and other prison staffers, but this is a very touchy issue due to the politics of prison.

While no advice can be comprehensive in this regard due to situations calling for different approaches, there are some basic tenets that, if adhered to, can help steer you either out of trouble or help keep you out of it in the first place.

We cover this off in detial in our publication "Beyond The Ordinary! "UNCUT"!

What Do You Eat In Prison.

One question we often get asked is, “What do you eat in prison?”

While many TV shows and movies depict prisoners as eating poor quality food, inmates within Queensand Corrective Services are provided three nutritionally sound meals each day.

Inmate Discipline Proceedings.

All inmates confined within the Queensland prison system must abide by the Queensland Corrective Services rules. The disciplinary program “helps ensure the safety, security, and orderly operation of correctional facilities, and the protection of the public, by allowing staff to impose sanctions on inmates who commit prohibited acts.”

Most Queensland prisoners will be charged with a prison disciplinary breach during their incarceration (informally called a “breach” in prison).

Even so, few understand the governing policies and procedures.

Likewise, few Queensland prisoners understand how to defend themselves when confronted with a breach in prison.

Queensland Corrective Services love handing out "Safety Orders" which go unchecked.

We are here to help! Marius Anton Ackerman was subjected to many "Safety Orders" one which kept him in isolation for 9 months in a small cell.

Toilets in Prison.

In terms of toilets, every prison cell has one. If you’re housed in a cell, it is best to use the restroom when your cellmate is not present.

In emergencies, it is ok to hang a sheet up for privacy if you need to use your prison cell bathroom and the door is locked.

In terms of less involved bathroom usage, it is fine to use a jail cell bathroom with a cellmate present.

Prison Showers.

Each cell has a shower in it.

If you are in the Residential Compound each unit has communal showers and toilets within your unit.

Searches, "Ramps", and Contraband in Prison.

Inmate contraband can be divided into two general categories: hard and soft.

Hard contraband consists of weapons, drugs, alcohol, and other types of items that can’t be ignored.

Soft contraband can consist of food stolen from The Prison Kithchen, excess property, and other less serious items.

This topic is well documented in our publication "Beyond The Ordinary! "UNCUT".

Protective Custody | What is PC in Prison?

Protective custody within prison systems is pivotal for safeguarding inmates at risk of harm.

In our Publication "Beyond The Ordinary! "UNCUT" we delve into the intricacies of protective custody (PC) in prisons.

We explore its purpose, the processes involved, and the conditions under which inmates might be placed in PC, thus ensuring a comprehensive understanding of this essential component of Queensland Corrective Services.

Common Reasons for Seeking Prison Protective Custody.

As a practical note, many prisoners who enter protective custody do so because of either inmate assault or threats from other prisoners.

In some cases, inmates arrive at a new prison, know of its dangerous reputation, and refuse to enter the general population out of fear.

Inmates convicted of sexual offenses and those who are known informants are more likely than others to enter PC due to fears for their safety.

Likewise, at some rougher institutions, LGBT inmates elect to enter protective custody instead of the general population.

Medical and Dental Care in Prison.

The prison health care system can often seem like a pretty uncaring place.

While medical and dental care for both emergency and routine situations are provided to prisoners within Queensland Corrective Services Prisons, many inmates complain about the speed and quality of this care. It often seems inadequate and is rarely rendered promptly.

Lean how to manage the "System" as expalined in our Publication Beyond The Ordinary! "UNCUT".

Mental Health Programs For Inmates.

Upon entry to the Queensland prison system, inmates complete a questionnaire, which is then reviewed by a correctional facility psychologist.

Every inmate also meets with a prison psychologist at least once.

The purpose of the questionnaire and meeting is two-fold. First, it helps the psychologist understand how well the inmate is adjusting to prison life.

This can help identify inmates who pose a danger to others or to themselves.

Ongoing Mental Health issues and treatments are not easy to come by in Queensland prisons unless you know how to work the "System".

In our Publication we address this very important matter in great detial.

Violence And Sexual Assault In Prison.

Violence is an unfortunate and common part of prison life, especially at the higher security levels within the Prisons.

So is Sexual Assault, though to a lesser degree. Inmates at farms  (low-security levels) usually have less to worry about in either regard.

These issues are a more likely reality for those at high-security Queensland prisons.

The Author was the subject to a sexual assault while in custody.

He addresses this very real issue in detail in Beyond The Ordinay "UNCUT" and in his Autobiography "My Journey! My Way! "UNCUT".

Prison Recreation Programs | Prison Workouts.

Queensland Prisons inmates have regular access to prison recreation programs. These prison workouts are usually performed in the prison gym.

In Beyong The Ordinary "UNCUT"! explains recreation options in Queensland prisons, including prison football, arts programs, hobbycraft activities, and music programs in prisons.

Please contact the Marius Anton Ackerman Prison Preparation Services if you are preparing for a term of incarceration.

Our experienced team can answer your questions and resolve any issues.

Prison Jobs & Inmate Work Assignments.

All medically-able prisoners are required to have a prison job (officially called a “work assignment”) unless they are Medically Disabled, in which case Health Services can excuse them from institutional work assignments.

The reason all inmates must have work assignments is two-fold: one, it reduces inmate idleness, and two, prisons require a ready labor force in order to sustain operations.

More information is available in Beyond The Ordinary "UNCUT!

Inmate Canteen.

The Queensland prison system operates a shop called the inmate "Buy Up", where prisoners can purchase various foods, clothing, and other items.

We explain the inmate canteen, which is also known as the jail canteen "Buy-Up's" and STP's (Sales To Prisoners).

Please contact the us if you or a loved one is preparing to enter prison.

Our prison experts can help you prepare, resolve any issues in prison.

How Our Prisoner Re-entry Programs Work.

When a client hires us to help with their reentry needs, our team of experienced prison consultants starts by speaking with the client and their family to understand not only their immediate needs, but to understand their background, potential challenges, and personal objectives.

Much like with prison preparation, each individual needs a customised program for re-entry success.

Generally speaking, our prisoner re-entry programs are fulfilled via letters, emails, and phone calls with incarcerated clients and their families.

Through these communications, we understand their specific needs, create an action plan for success, and both coach our clients, as well as get directly involved in logistical matters.

The big key here is that by talking through the incarcerated client’s re-entry needs, we are able to help them flesh out a quality prisoner re-entry plan.

Our goal here is to raise potential issues and find solutions to them as much as it is to explain what is to come, where the trouble spots are likely to be, and calm anxiety and fear.

After we understand the client’s background and needs, our team goes to work — and works in conjunction with family members — to create a prisoner re-entry program for success. Often this starts by focusing on maximizing halfway house, but quickly turns to the big three: housing, employment, and support network creation. The biggest issues faced by most prisoners concern these three elements.

Housing

We start by speaking with the incarcerated client and their family to understand their financial resources and family circumstances. If the prisoner’s family is willing to allow the prisoner to move back home, then this part of the re-entry program is solved.

If not, our team will discuss options, search out appropriate housing, and even act as an in-between with the incarcerated client in securing specific housing. We can be however hands-on or hands-off as the client desires.

Employment

With housing in place, our team then discusses with the client their employment prospects. If they have employment already lined up, then this is easy.

If not, our team can research local employment markets, help the client prepare for the line of work they’d like to pursue, assist the client in creating a resume, and even contact local employers (or even help the client to structure a new business. One of the big benefits of hiring Marius Anton Ackerman is our strength in strategic educational planning. Marius Anton Ackerman, MAAD72702 UNCUT LIMITED Director, is also the author of the prison guide Beyond The Ordinary "UNCUT"!

As such, he’s well aware of correspondence education programs that prisoners can enroll in to better prepare for employment after release from custody.

Support Network

An often overlooked area of prisoner reentry programs is creating a support network. Reentering society is challenging at best. Many released prisoners fail. But with appropriate housing, a good job, and a strong support network, it is possible for most, if not all, released prisoners to succeed.

Our support network creation service starts, as with all of our other consulting services, with fully understanding who our clients are and their needs. By understanding what brought the client to prison in the first place, and the issues they faced before prison and during imprisonment, we can help them to create a prisoner re-entry program that addresses their specific needs. For example, many of our clients have suffered from substance abuse addictions. In such a case, we would assist the client in finding treatment (if they are so inclined), help them figure out a way to stay away from bad people, places, and things, and even search for positive influences for them to associate with (e.g., ministers, treatment providers, sports or recreation leagues, prisoner support or advocacy groups, etc.).

The same process can be applied to many other issues (e.g., past sex offenses, mental health issues, underemployment, social issues, etc.).
